The hottest Southern California Festivals for 2014 are here! It's time to get out your calendar and start marking in your weekend plans. Remember all those things you promised you were going to get around to doing? The summer of 2014 is the perfect time to do them! Check out this list of festivals and explore new foods, fun entertainment, live music, and even homemade crafts and art. No matter what your budget is, or your time-off, there is an option for you in this list.

Southern California Festivals

April 5-6 | Scandinavian Festival of Southern California in Thousand Oaks: Come explore all things Scandinavian: food, traditions, and art. Admission $7.50.  April 11 | The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio: Better known to music fans as Coachella, this three day festival will satisfy all of your musical cravings! Admission price ranges depending on show and seat location. Find tickets online. April 25-26 | Stagecoach Country Music Festival in Indio: This festival is a must for Country music lovers. This year featured artists include Eric Church, Jason Aldean, and Luke Bryan among other artists. Admission varies depending on ticket availability. May 8 | WorldFest in Lake Balboa: An earth-day festival to rival all others. Admission is currently $8 but goes up to $12 on May 1st so order online soon! May 25-26 | JazzReggae Festival in Los Angeles: LA is known for its music scene so it's only fitting that you plan on attending the JazzReggae Festival. Plus, their website is just amazing. Admission tickets go on sale in April. May 30, 31, June 1 | Balloon and Wine Festival in Temecula: From wine tasting to musical entertainment, not to mention the hot air balloons, this event is a must for your summer plans. Bring your kids and pretend you're in the movie Up. Admission varies but the range is between $15 and $25. The sixth annual Garlic Festival, titled the "Ultimate Summer Food Fair" will offer drinks, food, and local arts and crafts booths. You may consider bringing an extra box of mints...or two. Admission is $20. July 26-27 | Watermelon Festival in Pasadena: When it comes to summer, there is no better treat than ice-cold watermelon. Join in the fun at the Watermelon Festival. 1) Find the Hidden Eeyore
While waiting in the Indiana Jones line during the safety presentation, turn around and look up at the projector. If you can't see the hidden Eeyore, ask a cast member to shine their light up there! The ride was built on top of the old Eeyore parking lot, the character is an old sign from the lot and a tribute to what used to be.

2) Ride the Lilly Belle
Have you always wanted to know what it feels like to ride the famous Lilly Belle? If you arrive early enough in the day, and the special train car is operating, you will be able to go to the Train Station and ask a cast member to take your reservation for a free ride. If you are successful, then you can have a free 20-30 min ride in the lavish VIP train!

3) Club 33
Did you know about the exclusive club located above the Blue Bayou restaurant in New Orleans Square? It's called Club 33, and with very limited membership is quite easily one of the nicest 5 star restaurants in the area. Entertaining guests of the highest caliber, the restaurant is used to seating famous actors, presidents, and even sometimes the everyday person if you can find an in with an existing member.

5) Captain the Mark Twain
Ever thought how cool it would be to captain the Mark Twain Riverboat? If you ask a cast member nicely, they will send you up to the second story upon boarding. After knocking on the Private door, you will be greeted by the Captain, who will show you how to drive, tell you when to blow the horn during the ride, and even give you a certificate of ability to captain the Mark Twain and sign your name in the guestbook of Captains afterwards.

6) Hidden Buzz Lightyear Target
Are you never able to beat your friends on the Buzz Lightyear ride? When you come around to Zurg's ship, aim for the target that is at the bottom, it will get you 25,000 extra points if you hit it right! Keep your friends guessing at your Space Ranger skills!

Dumb Starbucks: Worth the wait?

Just hours after admitting that he had opened the Dumb Starbucks store as a prank and in order to gain footage for his Comedy Central show, 'Nathan For You', Nathan Fielder was asked to shut down his coffee pop up in Los Angeles by health inspectors for not obtaining the correct permits. With lines out the door for "Dumb coffee", the shop was able to open it's doors and use the same logo because it was considered a parody. What do you think? The Secrets of San Diego Speakeasies

 

Ever wanted to live in the 20's and experience the rush of going underground to party? You might be interested in San Diego speakeasies.

  Gas Lamp Speakeasy Located on 708 4th Ave in San Diego, and open every  night after 8:00 pm, this speakeasy boasts nightly entertainment of Jazz and Blues and carries a 1920's old time vibe. Providing food from Henneseys next door and hand crafted cocktails, this bar is sure to impress you. The website states that the house rules are; No Religion, No Politics, If you want to approach a lady, you should do so with a drink, Booths are for communal seating, and if you want a fancy cocktail, it's going to take a minute so be patient. When it comes to San Diego speakeasies, this one is a classic.

Source: yelp.com Prohibition If you are looking for a genuine speakeasy vibe, look no further than Prohibition. With a decoy store front doubling as a Law Office, you can enter through the secret door at 548 5th Ave in San Diego on a first come first serve basis Thursday through Saturday after 7:00 pm. Starting at 9:30 is the live entertainment, and in suit with other 1920's themed bars there are a few strictly enforced house rules: no cell phones at the bar, no parties larger than six, drink with an open mind, no unsolicited advances on female patrons, and the dress code strictly enforced (collared shirts for men, no athletic shoes, no sandals, no shorts, and no ball caps). As for San Diego speakeasies, this one will make you feel classy!

Hidden behind a wall of faux beer barrels in the back of The Neighborhood restaurant at 777 G St in San Diego. With even the most secretive of sites, you click on a key to place a reservation and must use one to get in on the night of in order to experience the entertainment and customized drinks made my "mixologists". Word is, the Dealer's Choice is the regular favorite. If you are looking for the most secretive of San Diego speakeasies, come here for a good time.
